Tomorrow: Pancakes vs. Waffles. Plus other news from our monthly meeting

First of all: Our first Pancakes vs. Waffles breakfast is this Saturday, March 14th from 9am-11am. Come eat and vote for one or the other or both at Parkrose United Methodist Church, 11111 NE Knott St, Portland, OR 97220.

Then:

Our spring craft festival the Spring Fling will be April 4th from 9am to 2pm, also at Parkrose United Methodist. There will be crafts, baked goods, activities for kids, and a movie screening (probably Zootopia).

Bad news

Emma from Councilor Dunphy's office tells us that Grocery Outlet corporate is closing the Grocery Outlet on Sandy in the Parkrose neighborhood. Following the closure of Fred Meyer this could be a big blow to the neighborhood. However, Dunphy's office is working with the local franchise owner to try to keep the store open as a grocery store, just not a Grocery Outlet.

Treasing report

Our fiscal year ended February 28. We're in good shape financially. We applied for a grant (the same one from the District 1 Coalition that we got last year) to cover our summer picnic in Knott Park, but we should be able to make it work even without the grant if needed.

East Portland Tool Library

Have you heard of East Portland Tool Library? East Portland residents can borrow tools there for free! Learn more at https://eastportlandtoollibrary.org/

They're located at the other Methodist Church:

Cherry Park United Methodist Church 1736 SE 106th Ave. Portland, OR 97216

Steph Irish attended our meeting and invited us to attend their volunteer celebration on Thursday March 19 from 6 to 7:30. If you plan to attend email info@eastportlandtoollibrary.org

Next month: Bylaws and vice president vote

We presented a draft for an update of our bylaws. The biggest change is probably that we're adding a fourth officer, a vice president, who will fill in for the president when they are absent. We'll hold a vote on the bylaws and for the vice president seat at our April 14th meeting.
