Forthcoming events: Moda Center meeting at Lents Park, and more

Forthcoming events of note:

June 13, 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm: City Council is holding a public meeting on the Moda Center renovations at Lents Park. There is also an online survey on the topic.
June 26, 9 am - 11 am: Coffee with a Cop at Councilor Loretta Smith’s office. (Note: The date was moved as not to conflict with Juneteenth.)
July 11: Neighborhood clean-up on Klikitat, to clean-up firework and trash left over from the Fourth of July. More details forthcoming.
August 4, 5 pm to 7 pm: Parkrose Heights National Night Out/Party on Portland: This will be our big event for the year. Klint is applying for a park permit. Assuming that goes through, it will be held at Knott Park.
October 10: Chili cook-off. More details forthcoming.

Some other news from the last meeting (Note: These are not official meeting minutes, just some quick notes):

Councilor Jamie Dunphy’s office is providing $2,000 sponsorships to all neighborhood associations. The money comes from his office’s outreach budget. We’re looking into how best spend this money. One possibility: A portable air conditioning unit that we can use to cool Miller Hall for summer events. (We could also possibly write a Metro grant for the AC)
The Hazelwood Neighborhood Association has leased land from David Douglas High School to turn some of the empty lot next to the old Fred Meyers into a pocket park and soccer field, using money from Prosper Portland.

Addendum: Walk With District 1 City Councilors on Sep. 14th

Another noteworthy event this weekend: Oregon Walks is hosting a Walk With District 1 City Councilors on Sep. 14th from 9 to 10am Starting at the Springwater Trail and 82nd Avenue District 1 City Councilors: Loretta Smith, Candace Avalos, and Council President Jamie Dunphy will be present for this casual walk (1.5 mile round trip) along the scenic Springwater Trail.
