Addendum: Walk With District 1 City Councilors on Sep. 14th

Another noteworthy event this weekend: Oregon Walks is hosting a Walk With District 1 City Councilors on Sep. 14th from 9 to 10am Starting at the Springwater Trail and 82nd Avenue District 1 City Councilors: Loretta Smith, Candace Avalos, and Council President Jamie Dunphy will be present for this casual walk (1.5 mile round trip) along the scenic Springwater Trail. Come join our District One neighbors for this unique Walk and Talk experience. To keep everyone refreshed, light beverages and snacks will be provided for those who send an RSVP to the Oregon Walks team. This walk is one of many that Oregon Walks is hosting across Portland and the region for STEPtember, our month to celebrate walking. STEPtember’s grand finale will be an audacious walk across the City called the Portland Promenade -- starting in East Portland at Luuvit View Park and finishing at Pioneer Courthouse Square for a party. |

A few quick notes before the minutes: It doesn't look like we're going to be able to reschedule the summer Picnic in the Park event, which we had to cancel/postpone due to the weather, so the October 10th chili cook-off event is going to be our big event for this year. This is your chance to mingle with your neighbors, show off your chili cooking skills, or just try some tasty chili. Due to the heat advisory and wildfire smoke making our air quality dangerous for many people, we have decided to postpone this event. It wasn't an easy decision and we are taking all of our neighbors into consideration. We'll discuss rescheduling the event or replacing it with a fall event at our (indoor, air-conditioned) meeting on August 11th at Parkrose United Methodist Church at 7pm.
